milestone project

 objectified response

I remember having a difficult time with figuring out how to use this program. I had decided to go with a simple design so I could figure out the basics and not to overwhelm myself. looking back, I defiantly feel like I could do something better now.

for this project, i really wanted to experiment with how well i could tell a story with 3d objects, as i had never done that before. these were some of my favourite designs, and i ended up going with the turtle because my group and i thought it was the most successful. looking back, i do think this was the one to go with because it had a lot of potential.

I enjoyed doing this project because there was a lot of artistic freedom with being able to choose any objects from thingaverse. I think this was the project i most enjoyed in this class because of that.

For the object of significance, i wanted to do something related to my culture. a cultural object that I immediately thought of was a lantern or Fanous. I chose this because it was a light source my Bedouin family had used when we would take trips to the desert. we used this lights because we usually arrived during daytime and stayed until the late night. I have a lot of good and fun memories around it and with my family so I thought id go with it.

the first prototype ended up a complete failure :( it had too many folds and i made a few mistakes with the model.
i redid the model to have less folded parts so the paper would clump up together.

I don't think this is a great lantern, but I struggled a lot with this project and didn't want to overestimate my abilities and end up making something bad. looking back, I wish I was more confident in myself and challenged myself with a more detailed design instead of assuming I would fail. I think I learned not to doubt myself for future projects and to try a challenging idea and seeing if I need to simplify it or not.

Hybrid 3D Model

our group all sent our models and sketch ideas. we ended up going through some ideas before choosing to create a follow object with a three legged base.
from there we decided to go with a different design, and ended up duplicating the heart shape and attaching the tube idea from our first design to the side of it.
