during the discussions I had in the speed dating sessions, my classmates brought up concepts and ideas that would help me expand the story telling elements I was aiming to express. such as for the "bears preforming on soup", an idea of creating a circus of animals preforming on bowls and plates of food was suggested. although personally the Hermes shoes was my favorite design, there were not many concepts or themes that my classmates and I thought would make strong ideas. while speaking about the turtle mushroom object, the idea of putting a civilization on the turtles back instead of mushrooms was brought up. I decided to go with that idea, but with a simpler idea of a fairy living in a turtles back.
the creation relates to mashup culture, as I used the concept of a mainstream fairy environment that has been popularized in a lot of media, but placed it on a turtles back. I meant for the two environments to juxtapose, as turtles are water creatures and fairies can fly in the air. with this object I aimed to create harmony between two creatures from two different environments through mashup.
